Susan Olivia Lewis Thompson
September 6, 1952 - March 7, 2017
Mom was one of those rare gems with genuine knowledge in all parts of life. She was unequalled in proper grammar and writing ability. Savvy in antiques and silver patterns. Had a funny, dry sense of humor. And had extensive knowledge of pedigrees, structure and the finer details that made a Pointer a Pointer.
We think of you 100 times a day in every thing we do. Thank you for giving us this life, Mom. We hope to continue to make you proud.
Susan with Ch. Solivia's Blackheart Bravado (Jack) 1994
Solivia had its beginnings in the early 80s with the purchase of a Shandown linebred champion. She became the foundation of Solivia. From her litter were several prominent top producers, including Ch. Solivia's High Born, Solivia's High Regards and Ch. Solivia's High Cotton. All Solivia Pointers go back to that foundation.
My five children were instrumental in the success of Solivia Pointers. Solivia is owned and managed by Susan Olivia (hence "Solivia") Lewis Thompson, Katey Thompson-Brown and her husband Dennis Brown, Claire Thompson and Hayley Thompson. My two elder children, Stacy and Brett, helped tremendously in the formative years of our kennel. Their rearing and training of the pups, daily care and excellent handling of the early Solivia show dogs helped set the bar for our kennel's success. I could not have done it without them.
Almost without exception, people I know who love this breed had a positive experience with one or more Pointers as a child. Such was the case with me. I never wavered from my desire to one day have this breed as a part of my life.
"Firm Foundation and Safe Harbor"
The mantra of Solivia
A sense of responsibility and careful planning for a successful outcome in any endeavor was instilled by my engineer/father. And so it is with our breeding program. We have extensive knowledge of the Pointer breed and pedigrees, based on participation and observation for three decades. When we undertake to breed a litter, it is only with parents that are honestly and carefully evaluated for their suitability in carrying on the next generation.
We understand balance, symmetry, movement, and type. There is little that is more important to breeding great dogs that are a tribute to their breed than for the breeder to have a grasp of the standard, the breeder's "blueprint," and be able to visualize and apply it.
We will never knowingly proliferate health or conformation problems. Again, based on extensive knowledge, we apply what we know to what we do. We take great pride in and, at the same time, full responsibility for the results.
We hope that each of our dogs becomes an ambassador for its breed. This beautiful, talented, intelligent, kind-hearted and gentle breed of dog is centuries-old and deserves our unwavering devotion to its preservation. We are privileged to share our lives with Pointers.

Our family pursuit for over 30 years - loving, raising, enjoying, showing and sharing our lives with Pointers! My children have grown up with this breed. We cannot imagine life without them.

Am. Can. Ch. Solivia's Blackheart Bravado. Jack is behind all of the modern day Solivia dogs, including the breed's top living sire, Ch. Calais of Solivia Becker Arizmendi (Cloud). He is Cloud's grandsire. He is also in the pedigrees of top winners and producers in the USA and all over the world. This dog's oustanding, ground-covering movement and excellent temperament still evince today in his descendants. Jack was handled by all of us, in this instance he is pictured winning a Group First handled by Katey.
